Greg Coules

President, Founder

Greg Coules is the President and Founder of JG Coules Advisors, which specializes in placements of senior level hedge fund, asset management and family office professionals. Greg also has experience as a retained strategic advisor, helping investment managers consider growth strategies and related personnel decisions.

Previously, Greg was a Managing Director at Hunter Advisors, a global retained search firm, where he co-led the Hedge Fund and Asset Management practice and led the Family Office practice. Prior to joining Hunter Advisors, Greg was a Portfolio Manager at Brencourt Advisors, a multi-billion dollar, multi-strategy hedge fund. Greg began his investment career on the sell side as a research analyst at Morgan Stanley, where in 2002 he led the Broadcasting, Printing and Publishing team to a #1 ranking in Institutional Investor Magazine.

Greg received an MBA from Harvard Business School, a JD from the University of Chicago Law School, and a BA in Economics with honors from the University of Chicago. Greg is a member of the Visiting Committee of the University of Chicago Law School, is on the Board of Directors of The Family Office Association and is a Senior Advisor to a major private family foundation focused on projects in the U.S. and Israel.

 

Matt Spielman

Senior Consultant

Matt incorporates extensive executive management experience and rigorous training and expertise into both our executive search and executive and team coaching practice. He has seen first-hand that Leadership Development, when tied to achieving key business results, can have a transformative effect on the individual, the team, and the organization.

Matt has held several senior level positions, including Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, SVP Business Development, SVP Strategy & Innovation, and Chief People Officer. Tenures at MTV Networks (Viacom), IAG Research (Nielsen), Moxie Interactive (Publicis Groupe), Return Path, a private equity backed data technology firm, and Morgan Stanley, provide the basis for his deep and diverse knowledge in Sales, Organizational Strategy, Digital Media, Data and Analytics, Finance, and Capital Markets.

Over the last 10 years, Matt has observed how the dramatic change in consumer behavior driven by the widespread adoption of technology has challenged business models and the way we work — and live. In response, he has launched initiatives that reflect a new approach to conducting business, organizing groups and teams, and ultimately generating revenue.

Matt’s work focuses on executives in transition, either within an organization, or from one organization to another. He also works with high-performing employees who can benefit from leadership acceleration and performance improvement. In addition to partnering with individuals, Matt also helps teams perform at higher levels. Having built and run large teams during his career, Matt recognizes the importance of high-functioning teams. And he has seen that the sum can indeed be greater than the individual parts. He combines real-world experiences with academic rigor to empower teams to achieve peak performance.

Matt holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School, and a B.A. in Economics from Columbia College. Additional studies include: Leadership Development at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) and Columbia University’s Executive Coaching Program.

Meagan Davis

Vice President

Meagan Davis is a Vice President at JG Coules Advisors focused on placing senior level investment and marketing professionals within the hedge fund and alternative asset management space. Previously, Meagan was at Lanexa Global Management, a long/short equity fund on the Tiger Management platform. Her primary responsibilities included investor relations and marketing. Before joining Lanexa Global, Meagan worked at Hunter Advisors, a boutique retained executive search firm focused on top tier hedge funds. Meagan began her career at Colliers International, a global real estate services firm where she spent time in Los Angeles and Prague. She was the Marketing Manager in Prague and prior to that she was the Marketing Specialist for a Senior Institutional Investment Sales Team in Los Angeles.

Meagan holds a BA in History from Yale University.
